Dominating the ice with incredible speed and tremendous puck handling skills, Howie Morenz rightfully earned the assessment of the Best Hockey Player of the first half century. He was faster than a Bob Feller fastball and was famous for his "one man rushes" where he blew by helpless defensemen like they were standing still. His superb skill set helped him win three Stanley Cups with the Montreal Canadiens, and a trio of Hart Trophies as the leagues Most Valuable Player. One of the first inductees into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1945, Morenz' death in 1937 from a blood clot caused by a broken leg in a game, sent shock waves throughout the league. This card is one of Morenz' most popular issues, a well centered example of the 1933 World Wide Gum #36 Ice Kings card. Contains corners commensurate with the assigned grade with a light back crease. A virtual Babe Ruth of early hockey.
