Using the successful initial launch of the baseball statues and the previous season's NFL Championship game as the foundation, to the delight of football fans, in 1959, Hartland Plastics created a pair of football statues. Naturally, the 1958 NFL title game hero, Johnny Unitas, was a sure choice for one statue, but the second statue was produced for young Los Angeles Rams running back Jon Arnett. They produced only 5,000 Arnett statues and distribution was limited to the Los Angeles Area. These two statues were the only football examples ever produced for named players, with Hartland creating generic "players" over the next several years. This example of Arnett minimally grades Near Mint to Mint, snow white in appearance with very little in the way of edge wear, with no chips, dings or cracks. Tremendous example.
